Webelos Events thru June. Mark your Calendars!

Please note, the next few months will have meetings/events on days other than the usual Monday night.  Spring is around the corner (somewhere) so it is time to get out there!  If a Monday night is NOT listed below then we do NOT have a meeting that day.
Here is a list of upcoming Webelos events, please mark you calendars and RSVP.

1.  February 23rd, Blue and Gold Banquet.  St Peter's Church (Delp Road.)  Come at 4pm if you can help set up.

2.  March 2nd, Sat. Middle Creek Wildlife refuge.  Meet at Giant to Go at 2:30pm, back by 6

The Snow Geese are back at it, come enjoy this annual event as it means winter is almost over.

Scouts will earn their Naturalist Badge at this event!!!

All scouts MUST bring their Webelos books to this event!

I need the scouts to come prepared having completed either requirement 9 or 10 at home and prepared to share what they learned with the whole group.

**For the scouts that did not yet earn the Webelos rank, I will be meeting with you individually to review your book and discuss your plan for completing the badge by the end of the school year.

3.  March 9th, Sat.  2pm - 6pm  Engineer Badge.  Science Factory, New Holland Ave, Lanc.  This is one of two dates our Den is signed up.  Mr. Edelman will supply us with which kids were signed up for which dates.  Not all the boys will be attending this day.  The other day is in April, see below.  Digging through old emails, looks like these boys are signed up for March:  Nico, Drew, Elijah, Jacob Geiter, and one other.  (FYI:  Nico can move to April if needed.)

4.  March 18th, Monday 7-8pm, St Thomas Church.  Again bring Webelos books.  Probably will work on Craftsman Badge.  Plan to build a display platform for your Pinewood Derby car.

5.  March 25th, Monday.  Pack Meeting

April 1st, Monday, 7-8p  St Thomas, continue work toward craftsman badge.

April 4th, Thur 7-8p.  FREE Laser Tag for Socuts in Uniform.  Laserdome

6.  April 6th, Sat.  Hershey Bears Hockey Game.  Requires that you signed up for tickets previously.

8.  April 20th, Sat.  Hike House Rock, Lancaster.  Meet at 9am Giant to Go. back around 2pm.  Wildflowers and a few caves to explore...bring a flashlight.

9.  April 22th, 7-8pm St Thomas.  Pack Meeting

May is not entirely planned out, but put these events on your calendar:

May 18-19, Sat-Sun.  Webelos Backpacking trip.  Meet Giant to Go @ 7:30am.  A nice introduction to backpacking and carrying your gear.  Hike to a set of shelters on the Appalachian Trail, so tents are only optional.  Pine Grove Forest, PA.  If you have not earned your Outdoorsman Badge, you will if you come to this.  Forester Badge will also be earned.

May 20th - Final Pack meeting for Webelos 1 year.

June 1st, Sat.  Bike Ride from E-town area to the Jiggershop in Mt Gretna for Ice Cream!  We will bike along the RailsToTrails path.  Meet Giant to Go @ 9:30am.

Aug 7-10th, Webelos Camp at Hawk Mountain.

Webelos Summer Camp reminder

Webelos Summer Camp with the Hawk Mt Council will be Aug 7-10.
Adults do not need to attend with the scouts, but I would need at least 1 more adult to attend with me (which I am sure we will have more than that anyway.)  Adults will need to do the online training mentioned in the attached email which takes maybe 1/2 hour to complete and is online.  I'll get interested adults the links later.
I am including the information sent to me from Hawk Mt Council.  The link includes the cost, which if you sold popcorn the money you earned can be applied to this.
I would like to get back to them with numbers so please look it over, mark your calendars and let me know.

Good morning.  Below is the link for our Cub Camping program.  It lists dates as well as displaying several downloads to include the leader's guide.  You will finds costs here as well.  The only required training would be specific leader training and Youth Protection Training.  The additional training of Outdoor Leader Skills for WEBELOS Leaders is always a plus.  After reviewing the site and the guide, please let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you.

No Den Meeting Monday

With the Pinewood activities this weekend, we will not have a Den meeting on Monday(2/4.)
I will also cancel the following Monday(2/11) meeting (with the expectation that the scouts are finishing up their required badges at home, specifically the "Fitness" badge.  Again, this is REQUIRED for the Webelos badge.
If your son does not complete the needed requirements for Webelos as spelled out in the webelos book, it's not a major problem, they have until May until this Webelos years is officially over.  It is just nice to advance at the Blue and Gold.
Actually our next big event is 2/23, the Blue and Gold.  We are responsible for decorations and set up. 
When we meet on 2/18, we will finalize our plans for the Blue and Gold.  I would like to hear the boys plans for how they will complete their Webelos badge this year, so have them bring their books.

I am working Sat 2/23 until about 5pm, so I will need volunteers to make sure the Blue and Gold gets set up.  I'll send this request in a separate post as a reminder.
