Klondike sled Tue Night

Let's finish the sled tomorrow!
We will be staying in the Training Center at Camp Mack.  There are bunk beds but bring a sleeping pad along just in case.  It is apparently the nicest place to stay and has running water and flush toilets.  Cool.
The Staff will be sleeping upstairs from us.
Here is more info from Tom, the District coordinator:

Unit Leaders -

Here is some last minute information and reminders for the Harvest District Klondike:

  • Check-in on Friday night is 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the training center. A schedule for the entire event is attached.
  • It is forecast to be 17 degrees on Friday night. I know you are all trained leaders, but if you are camping outside, it is imperative that you ensure your scouts are prepared with proper gear (zero degree bags, clothing, etc). This is colder than I expected. We will carefully be watching the forecast so stay tuned.
  • Chippewa campsite is closed due to a safety issue. Do not use.
  • The following lodges were reserved in advance: Swarr – 162; Blair – 84; Dellinger – 99; Esbenshade – 16 & 24.
  • The water is turned off north of the training center. We will have a water tank available, but you should still plan accordingly.
  • No water means that the restrooms are closed. There are port-a-johns in the dining hall parking lot. Obviously, the latrines are also available.
  • BRING CUPS! We will NOT be providing cups for hot chocolate, coffee, or drinks. A cup that accommodates a hot drink is suggested.
  • Refer to the attached flyer for items that your patrols should have on the sleds.
  • Please turn in a troop roster when you check in. Each patrol is expected to have an individual roster.
  • Part of the lunch is catered, so the number is fixed. We cannot accommodate extra people until all others are fed. Please do not bring scouts or adults who were not registered with your troop. This helps keep the cost down.
  • You will be receiving vouchers for lunch. If they are lost, the person will have to wait until all others are fed to ensure that there is enough food.

See you at the event!

Klondike Sled and stuff

What a fun meeting last week.  We are more than 50% done with the sled (building it anyway).
Come again next Monday 1/14 to finish the sled.
Any parents that have electric sanders please bring them with extension cords along with your drills like last week.  Need to smooth the wood to minimize splinters.
If we have time we can work on the Den flag which we need for the event.
2 scouts from Webelos 2 will be part of your patrol as well.

Looking ahead to summer camp.  Put it on your calendars now.  Webelos camp at Hawk mountain.  Any adults who wish to attend are required to complete the online scout training.  With Webelos camp parents do not need to attend, so if you are not into camping let your scout go with the Den.  I'll forward links later on, but the dates of the camp are:  Aug 7 - 10th.  Should be good and warm!

Den Meeting Monday 1/7

Reminder Den meeting this Monday at the Church.

Assist Cubmaster Rich Brown cut the wood per the kids specs.
I'll bring the wood, wood glue, screws.
You bring drills, bits, and screw driver bits as you are able.
Looking forward to many handy scouts being there.

Date of Klondike 1/26 (camping 1/25)
