Plan ahead, backpacking trip May 18th-19th

Ok Den, some gear planning for the backpacking trip.

I am working hard to switch my evening work shift from Monday to another night.  So let's assume that happens at this point.
Monday we will review a packing list for the backpacking trip and I will review some of the gear and proper way to pack it.
I will send out more details about the hike in the next several days.
Keys points:

1.  You do not need to bring tents.  We will stay on the Appalachian trail and sleep a lean to.
Looks something like this:
2.  We are in the elements so pack for the cool nights.
3.  Mummy style sleeping bag preferred.  I have 4 extra ones so please email me if your scout needs one.  If the scouts are taken care of the an adult may borrow one if needed.
4.  The floor of the lean to is wood.  Bring a sleeping mat
5.  A decent backpack is needed as the scouts need to carry all gear mentioned.  So giant foam sleep mats are no good.  Think portability.  I just bought Nico and Dante a good backpack for a decent price as on sale.  If your scout is in need of one here is the link:  Backpack for kids    I will review this pack at the Monday meeting.
6.  2 water bottle (2 liters total)  This is backwoods camping and no running water.  There is a stream.
