Wolf Sanctuary Field Trip

The Den 5 wolves were on the prowl.  Saturday Oct 30th, Den 5 toured the Wolf Sanctuary of PA.  We had a great time and learned about how they are protecting wolves.  There are no more wolves in the wild woods of PA, so the wolves in the sanctuary need our help and protection.

The scouts should print out a picture of a wolf and share with the Den how they are being protected.  The boys will earn their Wildlife Conservation belt loop at the next Pack meeting.
If you could not attend the trip, you can earn your belt loop as well, just bring a picture of an endangered animal (any endangered species) and share with us how we can help protect them.  We will discuss this at the November 8th Den meeting.

WILDLIFE CONSERVATION BELT LOOP

Den 5 has a goal for the scouts, to earn the wildlife conservation belt loop for the Nov. Pack meeting.
Requirements:
1.  Explain what Natural resources are and why it is important to conserve them.  (Done at 10/11 meeting, so if you were not present please do with your parents and share with a Den leader next meeting.)
2.  Make a poster that shows and explains the food chain (we will do this as a den at 11/8 meeting)
3.  Learn about an endangered species.  Make a report to your den that includes a picture, how the species came to be endangered, and what is being done to save it.  If you will be attending the field trip to the Wolf Sanctuary, you can download a picture from their website and then make a report about what you learned on the field trip.  IF you cannot make it to the field trip, don't worry.  Pick a different species to do your report on.  There are plenty of online resources which your parents can help you with. (To present to the Den at the 11/3 bowling meeting.)
4.  Homework for the Monday 11/8 den meeting.  Download or cut out 5 newspaper or magazine articles that discuss wildlife conservation and share with us what you learned.  These will be discussed while you wait for your turn to bowl.
